USA by road - a country of many states and diverse landscape

The USA is definitely the best country for road trips because of its epic roads, offering unparalleled adventure and breath-taking scenery from the iconic Route 66 stretching across eight states, to the scenic Pacific Coast Highway passing the mesmerising California coastline.

Road trips may have to be broken down into several trips due to the size of the country and its 54 states, but there are so many options to suit every traveller.

I started my road trip from Chicago, 13 U.S. states all the way to California and back, with so many interesting places to see, while enjoying the landscape and the US nature scenery.

SOUTH DAKOTA - offers a wide range of attractions for visitors. One of the must-see destinations is Mount Rushmore National Memorial, which features the carved faces of four American presidents.

The stunning Badlands National Park is another must-visit spot, with its unique rock formations and diverse wildlife. The vibrant city of Sioux Falls is home to Falls Park, a beautiful urban oasis with waterfalls and walking trails. South Dakota is also known for its rich Native American history.

On the road, you can make a stop and visit 1880 Town, where several movies were filmed. One of the famous movies with Kevin Costner called, "Dances with the Wolves" or the series, "Little House on the Prairie".

South Dakota is also the location of the World's Only Corn Palace, Mitchell Corn Palace.

MONTANA - is a state with its vast landscapes, towering mountains, and pristine lakes. Montana offers plenty of outdoor activities and attractions to explore. One of the state's most iconic destinations is Glacier National Park, encompassing over a million acres of stunning wilderness, including glaciers, alpine meadows, and crystal-clear lakes, however, Yellowstone National Park is a must-visit, where you can witness the Old Faithful geyser, along with an abundance of wildlife such as bears, wolves, and bison. Yellowstone National Park is primarily located primarily in the U.S. state of Wyoming, although it also stretches into Montana and Idaho. Established in 1872, it was the first national park in the United States and is widely considered to be the first national park in the world.

Where to stay in Montana near Yellowstone: There are a number of places to stay. For some extra adventure, you may want to opt for a camping site, but if you prefer to stay in the hotel, then West Yellowstone, Cody or Jackson are great locations with so many property options to choose from.

WYOMING - is located next to Montana and again it is known for its vast open spaces and natural beauty. Wyoming is also home to a rich Western heritage, with cowboy culture and rodeos still celebrated today. Apart from the above-mentioned landmark, Yellowstone National Park, there is also Grand Teton National Park. CALIFORNIA - also known as the Golden State, is a diverse and vibrant state located on the West Coast of the United States.
